Recently, the winner list of 2023 Wuhan University Graduate Students’ Academic Innovation Award was published, Jiawei Liu, a 2020-grade doctoral student of our School, won the Special Prize. This is the first time that graduate students of our School have won the special prize.

During his doctoral study, Jiawei Liu devoted himself to research and achieved fruitful academic results. At present, he has published 7 articles in CCF-A/B international conferences and journals such as ACM CCS, AAAI, SIGIR, EMNLP, IP&M and JASIST. In November 2022, the paper entitled with Order-Disorder: Imitation Adversarial Attacks for Black-box Neural Ranking Models was accepted by the 29th ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security (CCS 2022), and won the Best Paper Honorable Mention. Jiawei Liu is the first author, and Wei Lu, Professor at our School and Jiawei Liu’s instructor, as the correspondence author, Wuhan University is the first affiliation.

Jiawei Liu pays attention to learning in practice and applies what he has learned to practice. During his internship at Alibaba DAMO Academy, he carried out research on human-machine conversation switching, content security, retrieval robustness and other aspects, and his achievements landed in many business scenarios within the company, which produced positive business value. In recognition of his excellent work in the project Research on Information Retrieval and Content Security Algorithms, he was awarded as 2023 Outstanding Research Intern of Alibaba with other 14 students from other well-known universities.

In February, 2023, the article The Impact of Big Models Represented by ChatGPT on Information Resources Management (in Chinese) was published in Documentation, Information & Knowledge (in Chinese). Jiawei Liu is the second author.

In March 2023, the article From ‘what’ to ‘how’: Extracting the Procedural Scientific Information Toward the Metric-optimization in AI was published in Information Processing & Management. Jiawei Liu and others are as co-author of the article.

Jiawei Liu bravely climbs the peak of science, pursues excellence, tries to explore the frontier of science, and sets sail on the road of realizing high-level scientific and technological self-reliance. He is an outstanding representative of SIM students.
