[Academic Journal] Data and Information Management Published a Special Issue on COVID-19

Data and Information Management, an English journal managed by School of Information Management of Wuhan University, published a special issue on Volume 4 (2020): Issue 3 (Sep 2020) with the theme of Data and Information Management under COVID-19 Global Pandemic. Professor Feicheng Ma, editor in chief of the journal and Professor at ourschool, wrote an editorial with the topic entitledHow Can Information and Data Management Be Used to Address Global Health Crisis. Seven articles were included in this special issue, and the authors were mainly from the United States, China and Japan. Among them, American universities mainly included Harvard University, University of Pittsburgh, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of North Texas, University of Michigan, Kent State University, University of California, University of Albany, and etc. Domestic universities mainly included Peking University, East China Normal University, Central China Normal University, Wuhan University, and etc., and Japan's Kochi University of Technology.

Based on the research background of the COVID-19, the articles of the special issue

covered the following aspects: how to establish an open resource library, how to exchange and share health information, how to think independently by information scientists, how to read academic literature by non-professionals, how to interact with human and information, how medical and health science libraries in American universities respond to COVID-19, and how China’s government and relevant departments deal with COVID-19 and the disclosure of information related to the COVID-19.

After the publication of the special issue, it has been highly evaluated and praised by academic peers at home and abroad. A number of scholars in Information Science and related fields have sent emails to the editorial department to express their gratitude for the organization and publication of this special issue. They agreed that the contents of the articles were very valuable, and they had recommended the special issue to students and put articles into the reading list of the courses.

Data and Information Management was founded in March 2017, sponsored by Wuhan University and managed by School of Information Management. The publication model of this journal is Golden OA.
