Recently, the results of the 2019 funding projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) were officially announced. The “Information Resources Management” Innovation Research Group project, led by Professor Gang Li, Director of the Information Resources Research Center of Wuhan University , was successfully approved by the NSFC for a grant of CNY 6.7 million.
This was the first national natural science fund innovation group project obtained by the domestic library information and archives management discipline. It was also the result of the “double first-class” discipline construction of Wuhan University, which means that the innovative research strength and academic influence of Wuhan University's information resources management has been achieved a great leap and upgrade. The innovation research group projects of NSFC are mainly support outstanding young and middle-aged scientists as academic leaders and research backbones, who jointly carry out innovative research around an important research direction. The purpose of the fund is to cultivate research groups which are expected to have a place in the forefront of international science. The national innovation group project plays a very important role in the NSFC, reflecting the overall strength of the research team in its subject area.
It was reported that 45 innovative research group projects were sponsored by NSFC in 2019. Among them, there were 3 projects belonged to the Department of Management Science. Professor Gang Li's project was one of them. The information resources management research team members are from Wuhan University Information Resources Research Center, which is the key research base of humanities and social sciences in colleges and universities. It is the first national level innovation group of Wuhan University in the field of management science. Feicheng Ma, senior professor of Humanities and Social Sciences of Wuhan University, is academic advisor of information resources management innovation group, Chuanfu Chen, Wei Lu, Xiaoguang Wang, Yongqiang Sun and Lu An are the core members. The group includes 15 kinds of high-level talent.
The information resources management research group has been working in the field of library information and archives management for a long time, facing the national strategic needs, and continuing to carry out innovative cooperative research on document information resources, digital information resources and big data information resources. It has formed three stable core research directions: information resources organization and retrieval, information analysis and mining, information resource sharing and service. The members of the group have presided over 20 major key projects of the National Natural Science Fund and the National Social Science Fund, the national key R&D plan and the Science and Technology Support Plan, as well as 49 youth projects, and the first prize of the Ministry of Education for Science and Technology Progress, the first prize of the Ministry of Education for outstanding achievements in social sciences, the first prize of national teaching achievements, and many important awards such as national outstanding teachers, and there were more than 300 academic papers have been published in top journals at home and abroad.
