Recently, the National Press and Publication Administration published the List of 2022 Developing and PremiumPublishing Think Tanks, Department of Publishing Science of our school was in the list. There were157publishing research institutions, colleges and universities, and publishing organizations applied for the Plan, and only 16 organizations were selected finally.

TheDepartment of Publishing Scienceof our school traces back to the Wuhan University first Book Publishing major in China founded in 1983 and the Editing major established in 1987. TheDepartment of Publishing Sciencehas been devoted to the research of publishing theory, policy and practice for a long time, and has played an active role in providing consultancy service for government’s policy-making, theoretical innovation, public opinion guidance, social service, international exchange, etc. It has a good foundation for building a high-quality publishing think tank. Recently, the department has joined in Luojia Think Tanks Matrix via Wuhan University’s Luojia Think Tanks Development Plan, it closely follows the deep integration and development of publishing, focuses on explaining the major development strategy of the national cultural industry, serves the Party's cultural publishing policy optimization and system improvement, pays attention to core technologies, empowers the digitalization and digital publishing industrialization of the publishing industry, actively organizes themed seminars, business exchanges, and achievement exhibitions among the industry, and launched a series of high-level research results.

Since January 2022, the National Press and Publication Administration has organized and implemented the High-quality Construction Plan of the National Publishing Think Tanks. The Plan aims at strengthening the construction of publishing think tanks by means of selection and motivation, systematic research, decision-making and consultation, discussion and exchange, publicity and promotion, gradually building a number of specialized think tanks, cultivating and expanding a team of think tank experts, forming a publishing think tank matrix and talent highland with reasonable structure, complementary advantages, complete functions, and meeting the needs of the industry, continuously promoting the theoretical and practical research and achievements transformation and application of the publishing industry, and promoting the high-quality development of the publishing industry.
