On the afternoon of April 22, the Work Meeting of the Experimental Projects of Rural Revitalization in Universities Directly under the Ministry of Education was held virtually.

As the leader of the National Key R&D Project Integration and Application Demonstration of Rural Culture and Tourism Cloud Service Technology, Jiang Wu, Professor and Associate Dean of our school, reported the relevant work on behalf of Wuhan University with the title of Multi-disciplinary Empowerment of Rural Culture and Tourism Integration, Systematic Promotion of Rural Revitalization Strategy.

Jiang Wu introduced the innovative experimental work of rural revitalization by Wuhan University from five aspects:

• The construction of Rural Jolly Meet--A Comprehensive Digital Service Platform for Rural Culture and Tourism,

• The co-construction of rural revitalization service stations between Wuhan University and local administrative organizations,

• The establishment of an exchange platform for industry, government, university, and research,

• Digital intelligence empowers the supply chain of agriculture, commerce, culture and tourism,

• The assistance in rural product sales via various channels.

According to the work plan, Wuhan University is going to focus on the following five aspects in the next step:

• To establish Wuhan University Rural Revitalization Industry Fund,

• To form rural revitalization research institutions,

• To hold contests of My Hometown and I,

• To create evaluation and rating system of agriculture, commerce, culture and tourism,

• To set up rural revitalization ideological and political lectures.

The five aspects will further promote Wuhan University’s fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and serve for the national major strategy of rural revitalization.

Guiming Chao, Deputy Director of the Department of Development Planning of the Ministry of Education, made a concluding speech. He fully affirmed the effectiveness of current projects in colleges and universities, and pointed out that in the progress of various projects, the relationship with the local government has been deepened, experts, teachers and students have promoted together, and local residents have participated together, which reflects the main role of rural residents in deciding rural affairs. He stressed that in the next step, colleges and universities should focus on the projects, give full support in terms of manpower, material resources and financial resources with greater efforts, deeper thinking and more detailed planning, do more in depth and detail, and realize the integration of academic values according to the established goals, so as to achieve better results, greater value and wider influence.
