On August 31, Ke Dong, an Associate Professor at the School of Information Management, Wuhan University, published an article Scientific Evaluation of the Academic Quality of Representative Workson the front page of Chinese Social Sciences Today, discussing the values and standards in the quality evaluation of representative works.
The article pointed out that with the deepening of the “anti-only papers, anti-only national talent titles, anti-only professional titles, anti-only education experience, anti-only awards”, Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, and Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China have gradually extended the representative works evaluation to all kinds of major evaluation activities by issuing relevant guidance. The representative works system of scientific research achievements has become an important measure to deepen the reform of the evaluation system, which is not only an innovation of the current "SCI first", judge by quantity rather than quality, quantitative evaluation distortion, but also an evaluation revolution returning to the origin of academic research. The academic quality of representative works of scientific research achievements is not only the source of its academic vitality, but also the basis of academic value and social value. Scientific, accurate and objective evaluation of the academic quality of representative works is the basis for the establishment of representative works evaluation system.
The article explained the point of view that the scientific evaluation of the academic quality of representative works should correctly understand the three kinds of relations between the academic attribute and management attribute of representative works evaluation, the evaluation situation and the objective standard of academic quality, and the quantitative evaluation and peer review. Comprehensively grasp the value of three dimensions: the basic academic quality of representative works from originality, the academic community value from the dimension of application and identity, and the academic system contribution from the dimension of knowledge system.
