On the morning of July 10, the 2021 Graduate Summer School of Archives and Government Affairs Intelligence of Wuhan University, sponsored by the SIM, and undertaken by the Department of Archives and Government Affairs Informatics, was held at the Lecture Hall 212 of the SIM Building.
People attended the opening ceremony were as followings:

Ping Wang, Director of the Department of Archives and Government Affairs Informatics, presided over the opening ceremony.
Chuanfu Chen delivered a speech, extended a warm welcome to the participating experts, professors and graduate students, and thanked the peer schools and universities for their strong support for the summer school. He pointed out that at the centennial of the founding of the Party, Archival Science should practice the important mission of managing archives for the Party, keeping history for the country and serving the people. In the information and digital age, it is necessary to attract more young talents to enter the professional field of archival science and carry out innovative work. At the same time, he also hoped that the School of Information Management, together with other peer colleges and departments, will be pragmatic, pioneering and innovative, cultivate talents with both political integrity and talent for the archival cause of the Party and the country, and contribute to the construction of a smart country.
Bin Zhang expressed congratulations on the opening of the summer school. He said that young students have strong creativity. Young people should use their youth to create for the country, human beings and the earth. In the era of storage mode transformation to electronic document and digital storage, archival students should actively face challenges, take responsibilities and deal with new changes. He hoped that young students would live up to the times and bear the future and hope of the development of archival discipline under the background of new vitality brought by reform. He believed that this summer school would provide good learning and exchange opportunities for graduate students majoring in archival science, and hoped that the students could study, think and discuss diligently.
On behalf of the School of Information Management, Wuhan University, Wei Lu welcomed 51 students from more than 30 universities across the country and expressed heartfelt thanks to people from all walks of life who have long cared about and supported the development of the school. He pointed out that Archival Science is very important in the discipline system of Library, Information and Archives Management. The intelligence of archives and government affairs is a key link to promote the co-construction and sharing of government informatization. A few months ago, the National Archives Development Plan of the 14th Five-year Plan issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, fully reflects the importance attached by the Party and the state to archives. The School of Information Management, Wuhan University warmly welcomes young students to study and work here to jointly promote the development of archival discipline. He hoped that all students would take this opportunity to make more friends, exchange and discuss, learn and gain, and wish the summer school a complete success.
Jiaqing Long, a student representative, combined with his internship experience in the National Archives Administration of China, believed that the current information technology has had a great impact on the development environment of Archival Science. What will archives do in the future in this era of empowerment of all things? What can archives do? This is worth pondering by students majored in Archival Science. At the same time, students majored in Archival Science should have the responsibility and confidence to meet the challenges, and actively capture the frontier hot spots of the discipline in combination with archival practice. Jiaqing Long expressed that he would participate in various classroom studies and activities of this summer school.
The summer school would last for one week, and 20 well-known scholars in the field of Archives and Government Informatics and senior experts in relevant industries to carry out special modules by means of theme lectures, team discussions, scholar salons, case analysis and writing guidance, aiming to provide a high-quality platform for theoretical research and practical discussion in academia and industry, let the students have an in-depth understanding of the frontier trends of the discipline, broaden their academic horizons, promote industry exchanges and promote innovation between the two communities.
