Two SIM Students were Funded by the China Association for Science and Technology

Recently, theChina Association for Science and Technology published the funding list of the 2022Postgraduate Science Popularization Ability Enhancement Projects, and four projects from Wuhan University were in the list. Among the four projects, two were from our School. This was also the second time that our School’s students have received the fund.

The two projects were as followings:

Research on the Development of Foreign Citizens’ Digital Literacy(Project No. KXYJS2022073) was in the category of Science Popularization Theory and Practice Research,applied byYuting Huang, a 2020-grade doctoral student of our School, and

Data Mining and Knowledge Map Presentation of Ancient Agricultural Sci-tech Literature in China Based on Bibliography Summary(Project No. KXYJS2022084) was in the category of Science Popularization Transformation of Scientific Research Achievements,applied byXiang Zheng, a 2021-grade doctoral student of our School.

Yuting Huang’sproject pays attention to the gap between the current level of Chinese citizens' digital literacy and the strategic plan of digitalization development. By using scientific metrology, social investigation, expert consultation, case analysis, comparative analysis and other research methods, it investigates the achievements and problems of foreign citizens' digital literacy policies, regulations, education system and evaluation system construction, summarizes the experience and lessons of foreign citizens' digital literacy development, and provides practical countermeasures and suggestions for the development of Chinese citizens' digital literacy.

Xiang Zheng's project uses the bibliographic summary data ofChina Ancient Sci-tech Literature General Catalogue (Agricultural), anexisting scientific research achievement of his research group's, adopts deep learning method to extract China ancient agricultural science and technology knowledge entities, introduces knowledge map and social network analysis technology, builds an interactive science popularization platform, tells the China story of "generation-dissemination-evolution" of ancient agricultural science and technology knowledge well, stimulates public interest in science and technology, improves public scientific literacy, and enhances the influence of Chinese traditional culture.

The Postgraduate Science Popularization Ability Enhancement Projects of theChina Association for Science and Technology started from2010, aiming at building a platform for science popularization exchange, promoting the growth of science popularization professionals, guiding and supporting graduate students in universities and research institutes to actively participate in science popularization research and practice, and enhancing their interest in science popularization research and practice and their ability to innovate and start businesses.

In 2022, the Postgraduate Science Popularization Ability Enhancement Projects received 1636 applications recommended by 320 universities and research institutes, and finally 78 projects in the category of Science Popularization Theory and Practice Research, and 22 projects in the category of Science Popularization Transformation of Scientific Research Achievements were approved for funding.
