Dialogue and Mutual Learning: The Forum of Academic Publishing Going Global was held in Tianjin on August 30.
This Forum is one of the seven special forums of the China Publishing Prosperity and Development Academic Forum sponsored by the National Liaison Office of Publishing Discipline Co-construction. It is co-sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Wuhan University, undertaken by the Publishing Research Institute of Wuhan University, and assisted by the Editing and Publishing Education Committee, China Redactological Society, CNKI.NET, Social Sciences Academic Press (China), Higher Education Press, People's Medical Publishing House, China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Co., Ltd. and Hubei Yangtze Media Group Co., Ltd.

In her speech, Fengrong Zhou pointed out that the CPC Central Committee attaches great importance to academic research and academic innovation, and hoped that all experts and scholars would exchange ideas at this Forum, explore the road of high-quality development of academic publishing, and help China's best original academic achievements go global.
Shulin Wu gave a keynote speech on High-Quality Development is the Premise and Foundation of Going Global. He believes that if academic publishing wants to go globally, it must be based on high-quality development. He expounded the importance and feasibility of high-quality development from five aspects: the CPC Central Committee attaches great importance to it, the solid economic foundation, the all-round prosperity of education, the growth of R&D investment brought by economic development, and the rich innovation results. He pointed out that high-quality development is the essence and core of academic publishing going global, and it is also an inevitable requirement for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Zhenxing Hao took China Social Sciences Press, China Renmin University Press and Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press as examples to share the theme of Trace Back to the Literacy, Ability, Growth and Cultivation of Academic Editors from Academic Publishing Going Global. He summed up the achievements, experiences and models of these three publishing houses in going abroad, and extracted from them that academic editors should have political, knowledge and professional qualities, as well as information, innovation and social skills, and put forward suggestions on cultivating academic editors’ ability.
Mingxing He's theme report Looking at Publishing in China from Overseas Collection: Opportunities and Challenges reveals the status and influence of publishing in China in the world, and points out that Chinese collection data is one of the world influence symbols of China publishing. He analyzed the academic value of the bibliographic data of the world's major libraries, and pointed out that the world public libraries have become a new growth pole of Chinese literature from the perspective of China books and new Chinese immigrants. He compared the Asian cultural community with the European and American cultural communities, and summed up their similarities and differences and interactions. Mingxing He believes that under the challenge of western centralism, Chinese contemporary literature should provide coordinates for China's publication in the ocean of books in the world from the perspective of communication scope--public opinion leaders--readers' research.
Xian Du combined with the characteristics of People's Medical Publishing House to share the theme of Making a Sound for China's Medical Culture and Letting the World Know about Healthy China. He introduced the efforts and achievements of People's Medical Publishing House from three aspects: strengthening historical self-confidence and cultural self-confidence, practicing initial mission, exploring international communication path, focusing on improving communication power, building a human health community, innovating via science and technology, and promoting high-quality going global of publishing in health, which provided reference for academic publishing to go abroad.
Taking the international publishing of Social Sciences Academic Press (China) as an example, Genxing Tong explored the organizational motive force mechanism of China's academic publishing going global. Firstly, he outlined academic publishing and its capabilities, combed the international publishing work of Social Sciences Academic Press (China) from the perspective of capabilities, analyzed the organizational motive force of international publishing of Social Sciences Academic Press (China) and the remolding of international publishing motive force under the new environment of high-quality development, and finally put forward the formation and possibility of academic publishing profession.
Xiaolan Guan made a report on the theme of China CNKI.NET Academic Publishing Going Global--Mode, Experience and Thinking, and summarized the going global mode of China CNKI.NET, that is, platform construction+knowledge service+international benchmarking. She shared the achievements, experiences, thoughts and future development vision of China CNKI.NET’s going global, hoping to mining the platform ecology and the international scientific research value chain in the future, and deepen the cooperation and seek common development among the Belt and Road Initiative countries at the same time.
Guangliang Li shared with the theme of Rooting in the World, Affecting the World: Exploration of Building an Internationalized Publishing Service Enterprise. He first clarified what internationalization is and its necessity, and took KeAi Company as a case to share his work in internationalization. Finally, he summarized KeAi Company’s model of Chinese and foreign headquarters give full support, use both platforms for international communication, use data analysis to support company management and journals’ operation, take customer service as the center, carry out international and domestic marketing work professionally, connect its system with international databases and build an international high-level talent team.
Jianhua Lei shared the theme of Practice and Thinking of Going Global by International Business of China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Co., Ltd. Starting from the relationship between International Business of China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Co., Ltd. and academic publications, she summarized the practice of International Business of China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Co., Ltd. from three perspectives:publication, communication and exchange, and put forward the thinking from three aspects: mode, brand and platform.
Jie Xu, Director of the Department of Publishing Science of our School, presided over the articles exchange session. Peng Chen, Associate Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, Nankai University, shared his article New Ideas and Strategies of Book Digital Marketing: Application Based on Multi-modal Media Environment. Jianfei Wang, Deputy Director of the Department of Humanities and Communication, School of Humanity and Law, Hefei University of Technology, shared his article On the Similarities and Differences, Causes and Multidimensional Comparisons between Chinese and Foreign Publishing Thoughts.
