The Closing of Wuhan University Postgraduate Summer School in Library Science

On July 15, the closing ceremony of Boone Classroom —— Frontier Progress of Library Science Summer School was successfully held. The Summer School was co-sponsored by the Graduate School and our School, and undertaken by the Department of Library Science of our School. The six-day academic feast ended successfully.

On July 10, Zizhou Wang, Professor at the Department of Information Management, Peking University, gave the first lecture of summer school. He introduced the characteristics and limitations of field research methods, the value and significance of crossing with library science, and the specific implementation methods in the research.

Chuanjun Suo, Professor at the School of Information Resource Management, Renmin University of China, systematically explained the development environment of contemporary library science to the students, and deeply analyzed the future development trend of knowledge management research in the information age and data age.

Jianming Zheng, Professor at the School of Information Management, Nanjing University, systematically combed the changes of the subject form of library science from ancient times to the present, and profoundly revealed the development trend and subject growth point of library science in the new era for the students.

Weicheng Liu, Director of Hubei Provincial Library, explained the development context, construction background and foundation of the smart library in the new era, and comprehensively show the latest practice and frontier progress of the current smart library construction for the students, and put forward the development prospect of the smart library in the future.

Wei Pan, Deputy Director of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Library, introduced the important responsibilities and influences of research librarians in supporting the construction of high-level talents, the development of subjects and science and technology, helping students to systematically understand the front line of university library work and guiding their career development direction.

Zhenjia Fan, Deputy Director of Nankai University Library, helped students understand the connotation of library science and information science from three aspects: research objects and fields, theoretical system and research methods, and think about the rationality of the subjects from three dimensions: unique value, unique mission and irreplaceability, and deeply discussed the research topics and discourse system of library science on information society issues.

Jiaoteng Gong, Director of Xiangtan University Library, gave a comprehensive and profound explanation of Chinese library science from four aspects: origin and foundation, origin and transformation, integration and innovation, development and trend.

Jingli Chu, Director of the Department of Library, Information and Archives Management, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, deeply analyzed the path and key points of high-quality development of libraries under the guidance of national strategy, and pointed out that the key point of high-quality development of libraries lies in the improvement of librarians' ability.

Ming Yi, Professor at the School of Information Management, Central China Normal University, explained the research paradigm of social network information behavior from the perspective of human dynamics, and introduced the frontier and core content of social network information behavior research based on human dynamics.

Qiong Tang, Associate Dean of the School of Information Management, Sun Yat-sen University, interpreted the progress of new reading space construction in public libraries from the perspective of space production theory, showed the construction modes and latest practices of libraries in various places for students, and broadened their understanding of library construction in the new era.

Chuanfu Chen, Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Wuhan University, expounded the necessity and possibility of the ecological construction of open innovation in subjects, pointed out that the current lack of open innovation had a negative impact on scientific research, and deeply analyzed the construction paradigm of open innovation ecology.

Ximing Xiao, Professor at our School, took cultural soft power as the breakthrough point, deconstructed library science education in the new era from the dimensions of cultural cohesion, cultural attraction, cultural innovation, cultural integration and cultural radiation, and discussed the new historical mission and development focus of library science education.

Ruhua Huang, Deputy Director of Wuhan University Library and Professor at our School, explained a series of national informatization and digitalization strategies, such as the 14th Five-Year National Informatization Plan, and explained how to carry out library and information science research around national strategies with specific research cases in simple terms.

Li Si, Professor at our School, systematically introduced the development of library marketing theory, the latest progress of library marketing with international professional associations and organizations, and expounded the development and practical direction of library marketing and reading promotion in depth.

Mingjie Li, Professor at our School, with the theme of the inheritance and innovation of philology in the era of digital intelligence, systematically demonstrated the development and inheritance of the subject system and the paradigm of document arrangement of philology, and emphasized that digital technology brought infinite possibilities for cultural innovation and inheritance, but also brought new challenges and problems.

Dan Wu, Dean of the Undergraduate College, Wuhan University, and Professor at our School, summarized the development course and latest research progress of artificial intelligence technology, analyzed the research focus of artificial intelligence in the subject of library and information, and emphasized that artificial intelligence should develop in the direction of "human-oriented" under the background of new generation information technology.

Xincai Wang, Professor at our School, pointed out in his lecture that the key point of innovation is to put forward new ideas and methods by comprehensively using existing knowledge, information and skills, and emphasized the spirit of "grinding an iron pestle to a needle" to achieve innovation breakthrough, which brought profound thinking inspiration to the students.

Congjing Ran, Professor and Director of the Department of Library Science of our School, deeply interpreted the strategy of Digital China, and based on the national strategic orientation, further clarified the strategic requirements, direction and future prospect of high-quality development of the library industry in the digital age.

This summer school adopted various forms such as thematic lectures, group discussions, scholar salons, case studies, and writing guidance. The lecturers showed the rigorous spirit of scholarship and profound subject accumulation. 45 students from universities all over the country showed full enthusiasm, showing the youthful style of a new generation of library scholars who were thirsty for knowledge.

At the closing ceremony, Peiwang Liu, a doctoral student of Nankai University, spoke as a representative of the students. Congjing Ran made a conclusion of the summer school. Chuanfu Chen, Li Si and Congjing Ran presented award certificates, prizes and graduation certificates to outstanding students. The Boone Classroom —— Frontier Progress of Library Science Summer School has come to a successful conclusion.
