On the morning of October 17, the Donation Signing Ceremony of Feizhang Peng and Mingkang Deng to Wuhan University was held in the Sanxin Lecture Hall of School of Information Management, Wuhan University.

Song Peng, son of Feizhang Peng and Mingkang Deng, signed the donation agreement with Xiaomei Deng. Ping Wu presented the donation certificate to Feizhang Peng and Mingkang Deng.

Feizhang Peng expressed in his speech that he was extremely pleased and proud at the centenary of the School of Information Management. His wife Mingkang Deng and himself stick to the library science and have been engaged in the library education all their lives. They have witnessed the development from the Boone Library School to the School of Information Management. As a member of the school, they hope to contribute to the construction and development of the school. Feizhang Peng encouraged the researchers of library science to seize the opportunity of development, consolidate their advantages, constantly open up and innovate, and construct library science with Chinese characteristics.

"Library Science has had a glorious past and will certainly have a bright future."

Feizhang Peng hoped that young people would devote themselves to the study of Library Science and library undertakings, take the motto of "wisdom and service" of the Boone Library School as the guide, never forget their original intention, keep forging ahead, and create a more brilliant future of Library Science.

On behalf of Wuhan University, Ping Wu expresses heartfelt thanks to Feizhang Peng and Mingkang Deng for their philanthropic donation to the development of Wuhan University and library science education, as well as to all walks of life and alumni who care and support the construction and development of Wuhan University.

Both Feizhang Peng and his wife, Mingkang Deng, are the last graduates of Boone Library School, the predecessor of the School of Information Management. Feizhang Peng once served as the first Dean of the former School of Library and Information Science of our university. In 2004, he was elected as a Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences of Wuhan University. In 2010, he was elected as one of the first batch of "Jingchu Social Science Master" in Hubei Province. With Feizhang Peng's advocacy and unremitting efforts, our school won the right to confer doctor's degrees in Library Science and Information Science. Feizhang Peng was a member and convener of the second, third and fourth session of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. He devoted his efforts to the construction of Library and Information Science discipline and the development of the school. He has been invited to visit abroad and Taiwan, give lectures and attend international academic conferences, so as to promote the exchanges of Library Science between the academic circles and industry, both sides of the Taiwan Strait as well as at home and abroad. After working in Hubei Provincial Library for 25 years, Mingkang Deng was transferred to the Reference Room of the school. She retired in 1983. Her style of not admiring glory and seeking truth and pragmatism made her an outstanding representative of dedication to work. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the School of Information Management, Feizhang Peng and Mingkang Deng decided to donate CNY ¥500,000 to the school's Boone Scholarship to reward students with good character and learning, and Feizhang Peng personally would donate CNY ¥1,000,000 to set up the "Feizhang Peng Library Science Development Fund of Wuhan University" to support the professional development of Library Science Department and the construction of teaching staff.
