In order to let 2019-grade undergraduate students know more about the majors and disciplines of our school, establish their major awareness as early as possible, and help them to plan their upcoming learning direction, two sessions of "Freshman Program: Department Directors’ Forum" were held respectively on December 5, 2019 and December 12, 2019 in classroom 001 of The Third Teaching Building. Both sessions were hosted by Mrs. Harelehax Habuletay, instructor of 2019-grade undergraduate students of the School of Information Management. All 2019-grade undergraduate students attended the two sessions.

Qian Dai, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Information Management, introduces the significance of this forum to students. She hopes that students could have more knowledge and understanding of majors and discipline of the school, and cherish the time of study and have a better growth at Wuhan University.

Lu An, Deputy Director of Department of Information Management Science, introduces basic information of Information Management and Information System to the students and makes an in-depth analysis of related scientific research achievements in the field.

Qiuhui Xiao, Director of Department of Archives and Government Information Studies, introduces Archival Science from four aspects: major connotation, history and development, teachers and employment.

During Q & A, Jiming Hu, Yujue Wang and Yongqiang Sun answered students' questions.

Jiang Wu, Associate Dean of the School of Information Management, and Director of Department of Information System and E-commerce, expressed that E-commerce is an interdisciplinary and integrated discipline, emphasizing the role of Internet thinking, big data thinking, network thinking and computing thinking in learning and study.

Yiwei Gong, Deputy Director of Department of Information System and E-commerce, explains the course system of E-commerce major of our school in details and shares major cognition social practice activities and competition results, he hopes more students would like this major.

Lifang Xu, Director of Department of Publishing Science, analyzes the development and prospects of Publishing Science in the era of big data from the perspective of connectionism and introduces the development of Publishing Science and current talent training process.

Jie Xu, Deputy Director of Department of Publishing Science, introduced the undergraduates training program of Publishing Science and prospects of outstanding graduates in details. She encouraged students to devote themselves into the integrating and developing career to take advantage of the potential.

Lihong Zhou, Director of Department of Library Science, introduces the long history of Department of Library Science and its position as the No.1 in China domestic, and outstanding alumnus of the department who are all over the world and involved in various academic fields and industries since Wenhua Library College.

Siluo Yang and Zhiqiang Wu introduced the postgraduate education system of Library Science and the situation of undergraduates studying abroad. The education system pays more attention on the development of information literacy and data literacy. They hoped that students could make more achievements in their studies and develop their own field.

The "Freshman Program: Department Directors’ Forum" was successfully held, however, students of the School of Information Management will not stop their efforts in academic research. Hope that all students could know more about their strengths and make clear direction of their efforts to find the most suitable major for themselves.
