On January 11, the investigation and research meeting on the construction of the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, was held in the lecture hall of the Big Data Institute of Wuhan University.

Xiankang Dou congratulated the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University on being selected into the first batch of philosophy and social sciences laboratories of the Ministry of Education. He pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as the core has placed the reform and development of cultural relics in a very important position based on the overall strategic situation of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and carried out strategic planning, overall deployment and promotion. Doing a good job of protecting and inheriting cultural heritage is a work that contributes to the present and the future. The Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, uses digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, etc. to build a new research paradigm for intelligent computing of cultural heritage such as sites, cultural relics, ancient books, etc., which has obvious interdisciplinary research advantages. Xiankang Dou hoped that the laboratory would jointly develop support platforms and advanced service tools to make new contributions to the protection and inheritance of Chinese traditional culture and promote the development of humanities and social sciences in Wuhan University.
Feicheng Ma said that the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, would give full play to the demonstration and leading role, rely on the existing resources of the Big Data Institute of Wuhan University, explore the road of the construction of the key laboratory of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, form the construction standard and management paradigm, and continuously accumulate the construction and operation experience. In the future, the Big Data Institute of Wuhan University would adhere to the orientation of interdisciplinary innovation research platform of humanities and social sciences, and rely on its six internal centers of finance, business and health to promote the construction of new innovation research platform of humanities and social sciences such as Digital Intelligence Consumption Scene Lab and continue to cultivate new academic growth points and interdisciplinary research teams.
Xiaoguang Wang, Director of the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, made a systematic report on the construction and development of the laboratory. Qing Fang, Dean of the Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences, Wei Lu, Dean of the School of Information Management, Yun Cheng, Associate Dean of the College of Chinese Language and Literature, Wei Zheng, Associate Dean of the School of History, Zhiyong Peng, Associate Dean of the Big Data Institute, Minxue Huang, Associate Dean of the Big Data Institute and Liang Hong, Assistant Dean of the Big Data Institute made speeches and made suggestions on the laboratory construction.
Zhuanghai Shen pointed out that the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory is another new type of important platform of Wuhan University in the field of humanities and social sciences research after the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, the National Collaborative Innovation Center and the National High-end Think Tank, and it is another important embodiment that the research work of humanities and social sciences of Wuhan University actively connects with the national strategy and continues to develop with high quality. He hoped that the laboratory would seize the opportunity, strive to build a data center, resource center and talent highland in the field of cultural heritage, achieve small entity, great radiation and new support, radiate its scientific research achievements to all fields of humanities and social sciences of Wuhan University, and support the innovative development of traditional humanities disciplines.
The Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, relies on the outstanding discipline resources of Wuhan University, such as information management, surveying and mapping, and remote sensing, and cooperates with traditional humanities disciplines, making efforts to break through the key technologies of intelligent computing of cultural heritage, build the intelligent data resources of cultural heritage, and build the experimental platform and scientific devices of intelligent computing of cultural heritage, and on this basis, support the expansion of digital humanities research paradigm and the promotion of the original innovation ability of humanities and social sciences, thus providing feasible paths and systematic demonstration for the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese cultural heritage.
