On the morning of January 14, which was the third day of the winter vacation of faculty and staff, President Xiankang Dou came to our school to express his solicitude for Professor Gang Li, representative of the Party members of our school, Director of the Center for Studies of Information Resources, Wuhan University.

Xiankang Dou extended his greetings and blessings to Gang Li, fully affirmed his unremitting efforts for the development of humanities and social sciences in Wuhan University for many years, and expressed his appreciation for Gang Li’s high-quality scientific research achievements, and hoped that Gang Li would make full use of the resources and platforms inside and outside Wuhan University, highlight the advantages and characteristics of the first-class disciplines, promote the interdisciplinary integration of disciplines, meet the major strategic needs of the country, and achieve new major theoretical breakthroughs and application in the field of digital economy.

Xiankang Dou also had a heated discussion on university’s construction, especially teaching, scientific research and talent work with the school leaders and teachers. “Talents are the first factor in the development of school and university.” Xiankang Dou fully affirmed the achievements of our school in teaching, scientific research and talent work. He pointed out that these achievements come from the fine tradition of respecting, relying on and cherishing talents and the hard work of generations of SIMers.

“We should make every effort to build the Center for Studies of Information Resources, Wuhan University, improve the quality of personnel training and jointly promote the high-quality development of Wuhan University.” Xiankang Dou encouraged Gang Li and put forward ardent hopes for the SIM. Gang Li expressed his gratitude to the university for its concern and said that he would do a good job. Xingrong Fu and Wei Lu thanked the university for its strong support to the construction and development of the school, and expressed that they would continue to fully support the construction of the Center for Studies of Information Resources, do a good job in resource integration, grasp new discipline growth points, and make new contributions to the humanities and social sciences research of Wuhan University.
