From the Notice of the First Batch of New Liberal Arts Research and Reform Practice Programs recently released by the General Office of the Ministry of Education, it was learned that the program Innovative Research on the Construction of Library, Information, and Archives Management in the Era of Big Data Empowerment hosted by Wei Lu, Professor at our school, was approved. A total of 1011 programs were approved nationwide, and 5 of them were recommended by Wuhan University.

Great changes in information storage, dissemination and application methods brought by big data technology have profoundly changed the development environment of the subject of Library, Information, and Archives Management, which aims at recording information, and also brought new impetus to the innovation and development of Library, Information, and Archives Management. Data management and data analysis technology provide great possibilities for the expansion of Library, Information, and Archives Management. The deep integration of Library, Information, and Archives Management, and Data Science has become the only way for the innovation and development of subject construction.

Starting from the demand of talent training, Innovative Research on the Construction of Library, Information, and Archives Management in the Era of Big Data Empowerment constantly explores the deep mechanism and correlation logic in the new environment, new demand and new paradigm of big data, promotes the construction of Library, Information, and Archives Management innovation mechanism, continuously increases the education proportion of "data" and "intelligence" and other elements, and turns the Library, Information, and Archives Management talent training path to "high, precise and specialized", which means in high-tech, precise data analysis and specialized communities. While paying attention to big data technology, we also have a deep understanding of the background knowledge and humanistic wisdom of Library, Information, and Archives Management and their application scenarios, pay attention to the combination of social context and application logic, and promote the intelligent coupling of "technical rationality" and "humanistic value" under the research standpoint of bounding up with the masses, so as to continuously improve the professional connotation.

On the one hand, the approval of this program will help to give full play to the empowerment effect of big data and promote the innovation and development of Library, Information, and Archives Management. On the other hand, the approval of this program is helpful for our school to utilize big data to seize the commanding heights of subjects in the development of new liberal arts and the construction of "double first-class" and realize interdisciplinary integration.

The New Liberal Arts Research and Reform Practice Programs of the Ministry of Education are aiming at universities and colleges across the country, with the purpose of comprehensively promoting the construction of new liberal arts and building a world-class liberal arts talent training system with Chinese characteristics.
