On October 30, 2021"FLTRP · ETIC Cup" English Public Speaking Contest (Hubei)came to an end. Danni Cui, a 2020 undergraduate student of Library Science in our school, won theGrand Prizein the on-site contest with the first comprehensive score. She will represent Hubei Province in the national finals of"FLTRP · ETIC Cup" English Public Speaking Contestin Beijing in December.

In the assigned topic speech Red Star over China, Danni Cui took the environmental changes in her hometown as the starting point, and showed the spirit of Red Star with the story of inheritance and persistence of three generations people of sand control in Kubuqi Desert. In the off the cuff speech focusing on Live Commerce, she vividly introduced the example of Jiaqi Li, an e-commerce anchor, and combined with professional knowledge, elaborated the important role of live commerce in bridging the digital economic gap between urban and rural areas and promoting rural revitalization.

"FLTRP · ETIC Cup" English Public Speaking Contestis one of the largest and most well-known English contests in China. Contestants need to go through preliminary, semi-final and final contests, and go through many tests such as expert review, video off the cuff speech, on-site assigned topic speech, off the cuff speech, and Q&A. In 2021, a total of 301 students from Wuhan University signed up for the speech contest. After the selection of audition and rematch in Wuhan University, 20 outstanding contestants formed the speech training team. Under the careful instruction of Hongmei Zhang of Foreign Languages School, and the all-round guidance of the contest team, Danni Cui took part in the on-site contest on behalf of Wuhan University and won the championship in one fell swoop.
