The First Meeting of the Second Experimental Teaching Steering Committee of the National Laboratory for Library and Information Science Education of Wuhan University

On the morning of June 10, the first meeting of the second Experimental Teaching Steering Committee of the National Laboratory for Library and Information Science Education of Wuhan University was held.

Xingrong Fu presided over the opening ceremony of the meeting. Yeqin Xu, Jingyan Lei and Wei Lu delivered speeches respectively. On behalf of Wuhan University, Yeqin Xu welcomed the experts and scholars and expressed his gratitude to them for their support for the work of the National Laboratory for Library and Information Science Education of Wuhan University.

Yeqin Xu pointed out that Wuhan University attaches great importance to experimental teaching, emphasizes student orientation, and has established an educational concept of coordinated development of knowledge imparting, ability training, and quality improvement, and adheres to the experimental teaching concept with ability training as the core, a high-quality experimental teaching team meeting the needs of modern experimental teaching and an experimental teaching system conducive to the cultivation of students' practical ability and innovation ability were established. In recent years, Wuhan University has raised funds through various channels, vigorously optimized the experimental teaching environment, purchased a number of advanced experimental equipment, carried out resource sharing and open experimental services, improved the level of experimental teaching, and achieved fruitful experimental teaching results. Yeqin Xu hoped that experts and scholars would give more valuable opinions and suggestions on the construction and development of the National Laboratory for Library and Information Science Education of Wuhan University.

After the opening ceremony, Yeqin Xu presented the letter of appointment to the members of the second Experimental Teaching Steering Committee of the National Laboratory for Library and Information Science Education of Wuhan University.

Members of the second Experimental Teaching Steering Committee of the National Laboratory for Library and Information Science Education of Wuhan University listened to the work reports of the National Laboratory on experimental construction, experimental teaching, construction and development planning, and had a heated discussion.

Experts expressed that with the strong support of the SIM and Wuhan University, which are the management units of the National Laboratory, the construction of the National Laboratory for Library and Information Science Education of Wuhan University has achieved remarkable results, basically achieving the modernization of equipment, scientific management, and professional service, forming an experimental teaching system with the improvement of information literacy as the core and the information flow as the link.

Xiaochun Liu introduced the development of the archives industry, and emphasized that the experimental teaching should be oriented to the industry practice, adhere to the problem oriented and demand-oriented, carry out hierarchical management of archives, promote the openness and digitization of archives, and have the sense of confidentiality at the same time.

Weicheng Liu pointed out that the practical needs of "finding people for books and books for people" in the library industry are far from being met. There is a broad space for development in smart library, digital collection, ancient book sorting and protection. He hoped that through experimental teaching, more professional talents with strong practical ability could be provided for the industry.

Lixin Xia, the leader of the expert group, made a summary speech. He pointed out that the National Laboratory for Library and Information Science Education of Wuhan University is the only national level experimental teaching demonstration center in the field of Library and Information Science, and has achieved remarkable results and played a leading role in academic demonstration. Members of the Experimental Teaching Steering Committee are all the leading roles in the industry and academic circles, with rich experience and reasonable personnel structure. The National Laboratory for Library and Information Science Education of Wuhan University is focused on the characteristics of subject experimental teaching, the application in industry and the trend of industry development, the cultivation of students' practical innovation ability, the training objectives of the standard talents and the formulation of training programs. The National Laboratory should grasp the opportunity of new liberal arts construction and continue to strengthen the construction of first-class courses in virtual simulation experimental teaching. The National Laboratory should actively promote the integration of scientific research and education, industry and education, form a benign interaction with the industry, and use digital and technical empowerment to deliver more professional talents for the industry. In terms of the construction and development of the National Laboratory, Lixin Xia stressed that the National Laboratory should pay attention to the regulation construction, not only open to the public but also pay attention to safety issue, do well in schedule and financial management, refine its advantages and play a leading role in demonstration.

During the seminar, Xiaoguang Wang, Director of the National Laboratory, invited committee members and guests to inspect the experimental site and equipment. The experts watched with great interest professional experimental demonstrations such as eye movement data collection, search engine construction, electronic file processing and virtual simulation, and complex network evolution analysis.
