SIM Held a Forum for Teachers and Students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Regions of China

On May 26, Forum for Teachers and Students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Regions of China was held in Meeting Room 205 with the participation of all undergraduates from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions of China. Guohui Peng, Director of the Office for Hongkong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs, Wuhan University, Qian Dai, CPC Deputy Secretary of the SIM, and teachers in charge of Undergraduate Students Management Office attended the meeting. The forum was presided over by Harelehax Habuletay, undergraduate students' Instructor.

Harelehax Habuletay reported the basic situation and related work of students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. After that, the students introduce themselves in turn. Yueji Huang, a 2017-grade Hong Kong undergraduate majoring in Library Science, shared his views on professional learning, student work, community activities, information retrieval, personal value and self-awareness. During the communication between teachers and students, students exchanged views with teachers on the postgraduate entrance examination policy for students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, college students entrepreneurship competition, college students' physical test and other issues. The teachers answered one by one. The interaction was warm and the forum atmosphere was warm.

After the exchange session, Guohui Peng said that he was very happy to come to the School of Information Management to participate in the forum, and he expressed his hope to the students: Firstly, students should set goals and achieve success in learning. Secondly, students should be concerned about the national conditions and seize the opportunities. Thirdly, students should undertake the responsibility of national development and participate in more practical activities.

Qian Dai expressed her gratitude to the Office for Hongkong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs, Wuhan University, for their support for the work of the SIM. She said that the SIM leadership attaches great importance to the education and training of students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and will further serve the development of students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. She hoped that students could give full play to their initiative and communicate with teachers to achieve greater growth and progress.

There are 25 undergraduates from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, including 5 from Hong Kong, 18 from Macao and 2 from Taiwan. In the academic year of 2019-2020, a total of 6 undergraduate students have won the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan scholarships, including 1 special prize, 1 second prize and 4 third prize. Yueji Huang and Jiawen Li, a Hong Kong student majoring in Editing and Publishing, have been admitted to Peking University and Nanjing University respectively, and will continue to study for master's degree.
