School of Information Management Teams were Awarded in the First National College Students' Chinese Classics Cultural Protection and Inheritance Competition

On November 5, the final of the First National College Students' Chinese Classics Cultural Protection and Inheritance Competition, jointly sponsored by the National Ancient Book Protection Center and the National Institute of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Development, was held in Sun Yat-sen University. Under the guidance of Yujue Wang, an associate professor at the Department of Archival and Government Information Science of our school, the Heritage File Education Picture Book Team and the China's Memory of the World Literature Overseas Communication Team won the first and second prizes of the Cultural and Creative Design of Ancient Book unit of the competition with good results of the first and third place respectively.

Award Presentation

The Heritage File Education Picture Book Team was composed of four undergraduate students, including Xiaoyang He (team leader), Yuanyuan Li, Xiangyu Zhang and Xueying Ma. The award-winning workHeritage File Education Picture Bookexpresses the ideas of social memory construction and national culture inheritance in the form of picture book that children can easily accept and understand. This work combines the theoretical and practical knowledge of archival science and library science, surveys, researches and compiles relevant information, compiles interesting stories, draws children's picture books, designs cultural and creative products, and deeply digs the stories behind the archives and literature heritage. The work was highly praised by the judges, and finally ranked first with an absolute advantage of 10 points over the second place. At the scene, it received the publishing cooperation intention from teachers of the National Library of China and Guangdong Provincial Ancient Books Protection Center.

The award-winning work Heritage File Education Picture Book.

The China's Memory of the World Literature Overseas Communication Team was composed of five undergraduates, including Chuanyu Zhu (team leader) majored in Library Science, Fei Jin majored in Archives Science, and Peilin Tian, Liyu Ma and Xinyi Wang, who majored in Information Management and Information System. The award-winning workToughing China at the Sight of Memory of the World Registeraims to break the regional and national restrictions on the protection of Chinese classics. By spreading the culture of Chinese classics and its historical and cultural features to overseas countries, the register can not only promote the dialogue and exchange of civilizations, but also attract more overseas people to join in the protection of Chinese classics.

This work takes the 13 archival heritage of China selected in the World Memory List as the object. It carries the spiritual core through words and pictures, transmits Chinese culture and Chinese spirit in the form of video, uses foreign dubbing to break the barriers of communication and understanding, and chooses a way that overseas people can feel more personally, so as to protect them through communication. The judges highly praised the work and fully affirmed its global vision of spreading Chinese classics and culture overseas. The work received cooperation intention from teachers of National Library and other institutions.

Toughing China at the Sight of Memory of the World Register(Video capture)

It was reported that the First National College Students' Chinese Classics Cultural Protection and Inheritance Competition took "continuous context, inheritance and innovation" as the theme, and set up three competition units, namely, Academic Paper Solicitation, Proposal for the Protection and Inheritance of Ancient Chinese Culture, and Cultural and Creative Design of Ancient Book, aiming to guide college students to use their professional knowledge and skills to explore the protection and cultural heritage of Chinese classics and explore the traditional Chinese rich connotation, and "make the characters written in ancient books alive".
